Job Description
The Rigging Department Head oversees the rigging dept in prep, operation, and maintenance of entertainment rigging equipment and ensures the successful prep of shows and rentals. A successful Rigging Department Head displays leadership and management skills for both short and long-term success and is committed to maintaining excellent standards in customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Forecast staffing needs and pursue additional support with the Site Manager as needed.
•Assist in the development and implementation of new standards, improvements, training, and efficiencies within the department.
•Work with Engineering to create rigging systems, double check gear lists for accuracy, and communicate inventory discrepancies.
•Maintain, inspect, and assist in repairing motors, Sumner Lifts, motor distros, and other rigging items in inventory.
•Assist in keeping accurate records of all certifications and work done on rigging equipment.
•Pull, prep and pack rigging gear for all projects with the help of the warehouse staff.
•Be the onsite rigging lead for specified shows as needed.
•Assist clients/other technicians via phone, email, or in person to troubleshoot rigging problems effectively.
•Collaborate with Engineering on advanced show paperwork including Calculating load requirements and power consumption for rigging systems
•Reports any safety concerns back to Engineering.
•Enter and maintain project documentation in accordance with company standards.
•Attend project meetings as needed.
•Report all safety concerns to Site manager.
•Assist other company departments as work demands
Requirements
•Five (5) years' experience in entertainment rigging production standards preferred.
•Working knowledge of rigging equipment in inventory.
•Forklift, Boom Lift, and Scissor Lift certified.
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•OSHA 30
•Lead a large crew and understands union/house rules.
•Current knowledge of industry standards and technology
•ETCP Rigger, preferred.
•Certified in CM Preferred
•Knowledgeable in Tomcat, Tyler, and Thomas truss systems as well as Stagemaker motors.
•Valid Drivers' License and Clean MVR.
•Willingness to travel (occasionally on short notice)
Physical Working Conditions:
Regularly bend, twist, stretch, push, pull and carry, lift 50-75 lbs.
Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Walk up and downstairs or ladders and comfortable with heights.
Work in various temperatures and outdoor weather.
Work "on-call" as needed including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work long hours and overtime as required.
Able to Travel (possibly with short notice).
