Overview

This role supports Highgate's Select Service Portfolio. The General Manager Task Force focuses on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee development, while maintaining hotel integrity. The position requires travel to fill in for key General Manager vacancies within your assigned region.

Responsibilities

  • Tour operating departments daily, making adjustments with department heads as needed.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet all financial review deadlines and corporate programs.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors.
  • Ensure department heads meet productivity and accounting standards.
  • Develop managers for future roles through training programs.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Sales on prospecting and account calls to generate business.
  • Participate in hotel sales efforts, including client meetings and hosting events.
  • Provide MOD coverage as scheduled.
  • Monitor management trainees' development.
  • Train staff on hotel policies and standards.
  • Assist in budget processes and financial forecasting.
  • Participate in hiring, performance appraisals, coaching, and discipline of management staff.
  • Ensure employee treatment aligns with standards.
  • Engage with clients and guests to promote sales and service excellence.
  • Oversee safety, security, and maintenance procedures.
  • Complete corporate training modules and obtain necessary certifications.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of progressive hotel or related experience, or a 4-year college degree with 4-5 years of experience, or a 2-year college degree with 5-6 years of experience.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.
  • Warm, friendly demeanor and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle complex information.
  • Participation in M.O.D. coverage and hotel required meetings.
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Ability to handle problems proactively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Multi-brand experience and travel availability required.
