$22.16 - $33.24 per hour. Part-time.

The Position

The Airport Operations Specialist performs a variety of maintenance and operational tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of the Town of Paysons Municipal Airport. Duties include safety monitoring, routine inspections, grounds and facility maintenance, customer service, emergency response, and basic mechanical maintenance. The position requires the skilled operation of hand and power tools, vehicles, and medium equipment.

The Ideal Candidate

The Airport Operations Specialist must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Arizona drivers license and have an acceptable driving record. Must be willing to accept on call assignments, on a weekly or monthly basis.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. One year of experience in airport maintenance operations, landscaping or similar experience.Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.Possession of an Applicators License for herbicides and pesticides is desirable but not required. Ability to obtain other licenses as determined necessary. Aviation experience is desirable but not required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sets and picks up barricades and warning lights to maintain safety of aircraft movements on
    the airport;
  • Operates a 4-yard or larger dump truck, motorized broom, backhoe/loader, and forklift;
  • Inspects airport runway, taxiway, and parking aprons for debris and degradation.
  • Inspects and maintains all airport lighting.
  • Mows all airport grass areas to required standards.
  • Removes weeds and grass from embankments surrounding airport aprons and parking areas using weed eater, hoe, or hula hoe.
  • Maintains painted lines and other airport markings.
  • Operates snow plow to remove snow from airport movement surfaces and aprons.
  • Greets arriving aircraft and welcomes pilot and passengers if the Airport Operations Supervisor is not available.
  • Maintains a constant watch for unsafe conditions or occurrences on the airport.
  • Responds to aircraft mishaps in accordance with airport emergency checklist.
  • Performs mechanical maintenance work on airport equipment and facilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve airport operations and condition, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly with Airport Operations Supervisor to provide excellent customer service for airport users.
