What Is An Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders need periodic updates on their properties, which involves sending out independent contractors. The key purposes of these property inspections include:
Most inspections will be exterior only, with about 10% requiring interior photos once a property has gone vacant.
Please note, inspectors are contracted at the county level, which means you will handle all inspections within your assigned county. In larger counties, you may share tasks with another inspector if volume allows.

Pay And Hours
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies based on your county and the volume of inspections. While payment is per inspection, you can expect to earn an equivalent of $20-$30 per hour.
You will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections each month, with a work commitment of 2 to 30 hours per week, depending on whether your county is urban or rural. Generally, lower volume counties offer higher rates, while higher volume counties will have lower rates. Although there is no guarantee of a specific number of inspections monthly, work is consistent from month to month.
As you establish your presence and increase your availability or willingness to cover a larger area, your earnings potential grows.
Note that mileage is not reimbursed in addition to the flat inspection fee.
